Teacher PD Opportunity
The 2024 MOI Brass Weekend is a great opportunity for Music and Instrumental Music teachers to expand and deepen their knowledge of Brass playing. We encourage teachers to attend the whole weekend either on their own Brass instrument or turn their hand and an instrument they may not be so familiar with.
As part of the weekend, we are offering a free PD, Unraveling the French Horn on Saturday, 9th of March at 3.30pm, Whitsunday Anglican School, Hatfield Centre 1. Topics include, The Challenges & Benefits of starting students on French Horn, Approaches to Teaching French Horn in a Band Context, Basic Horn Techniques and How to Recruit a Horn Player - What to look for.
This is a hands-on interactive presentation which participants will gain the most from by bringing along a French Horn to play. If you do not have access to a French Horn, fear not! There will still be lots to learn to inspire your current and future horn students.
Information presented in the PD will be emailed to attendees at the end of the session.
If you wish to attend this PD opportunity, please email Emily Walker at [email protected] stating whether you will be bringing a French Horn and any specific information or topics you wish to be covered BEFORE Friday, 1st of March 2024.

About The BoB (Best of Brass) Quintet
The BoB Quintet are a Brisbane-based brass quintet with backgrounds in international and national orchestras, jazz, Latin and brass bands, playing an eclectic mix of repertoire from the Renaissance to the present day.
BoB was conceived in early 2008 as a means for five brass players to enjoy themselves playing music from classical to contemporary, ancient to modern, pleasant to challenging. From these small beginnings, BoB has grown into one of Australia’s busiest and most versatile brass quintets with its annual concert season, performances in schools, several major brass/wind camps, regional and international tours, as well as the occasional appearance at corporate events. Drawing on the experience of its members, who have performed on all continents, including many of the major concert stages, BoB is dedicated to presenting works for brass quintet that delight audiences with the required virtuosity, musicality, and last, but not least, entertainment value.
We are excited to welcome BoB to Mackay to share their expertise with us and inspire the next generation of Brass players! If you would like more information about BoB, please visit their website or follow them on Facebook.
