Youth Orchestra and Jazz Band Conductor - Mr Earl Winterstein
Mr Earl Winterstein is a professional musician and a fully qualified teacher (Bachelor of Music Education) with many year's experience performing and
conducting bands, jazz ensembles and orchestras in the United States as well as Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Mackay. He was second-in-charge of
the A.C.T. Instrumental Music Program for 12 years, an Instrumental Music Advisor for a third of the state of Queensland and taught brass/woodwind/percussion in a number of schools in the western suburbs of Brisbane for 18 years. He moved to Mackay in 2004 to become the Head of
Faculty for the Creative Academy at Mackay Christian College which saw phenomenal growth in its instrumental program. He has returned to Education Queensland this year and is teaching at Mackay S.H.S., Mackay West S.S. and Walkerston S.S.
Mr Winterstein’s main instrument is the Bass Trombone and has played professionally throughout the state. He has performed regularly with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Brisbane’s Queensland Pops Orchestra, the Barrier Reef Orchestra in Townsville as well as the Bluewater Big Band in Mackay.
Under Mr Winterstein’s guidance, the MYO has placed and won many Eisteddfods and Platinum awards at Mackay Orchestras & Bands (MOB) competitions over many years. The Jazz Band was established in 2014 and has won the Platinum award the last two years and the Eisteddfod open section in 2022.
Mr Winterstein loves teaching and working with all age groups and in September he reached a landmark of teaching for 50 years.

Con Brio Orchestra Conductor - Ms Nicole Pasquale.
Nicole Pasquale is an Instrumental Music Teacher with Education Queensland. She has completed a Bachelor of Music and a Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching. Nicole started her teaching career in 2010 as a secondary school music teacher.
Her main instrument is flute but she also enjoys playing the many other instruments she teaches as a multi instrumental teacher. Nicole is passionate about music education and thinks it is important for all children to learn music at some stage during their schooling.
